Interesting hand at Commers 1/2 limit last night:
Flop comes Six Spade Four Spade Two (Duece) Spade so I fold my painted club connectors. Turn comes Three (trey) Spade and river is Five Spade
Now three players are left in, two play the board and one throws out an Ace Spade
Dealer pushes pot to owner of the Ace and he starts to mix the winnings with his stacks. idea
The table starts to talk. We convince each other that the 2-6 straight flush on the board was higher than the A-5 straight flush that collected the pot. Dealer stops the game and calls the man.
He hears the pleas and asks how much was in the pot. Nobody knows. Player who had the ace is marked out and has to wait for the tape to be reviewed before he can play again.
Button gets passed almost to where it was on that hand before the results come back. $23 in the pot and split it three ways. Player who had the ace is allowed to play again, and wins the next two pots. |

| That would be interesting to see. Straight flushes are rare enough, but to see one on the board.... Wow, pretty cool if you asked me. |

Well based on chanes, 2-6 would be a rarer occurance hence worth more than the A-5 flush the guy had in hand.
However, personally, I would have though that the Ace would have won the hand for the guy as it was the high card, though it is probably fairer to have split the pot based on the above facts.
I wonder if anyone more up to speed on hands will be able to fill us in as to whether that was the correct way to do things? |

| They did it correctly - the board was the strongest hand. Some would argue that the Ace was the highest card in hand perhaps, but I think that splitting the pot was the correct way about things. |

I'd split the pot, the board had the highest possible hand and the kicker doesn't always come into play. Some would argue it would, I would say that the fairest way to go about things was to split the pot.
My only worry is that that doesn't reward the player with higher cards staying in the game, so perhaps?... I'm not entirely sure anyone able to clear it up once and for all? I'd hope the floor got it right, but you know, were all human. |
