Background, I usually play $20 SnG and can get to the money about 50% of the time just playing solid poker with no fancy moves. Can then win if the cards are right. So my game is more geared to fast tourney play. Recently decided to give cash games a try so help in adjusting my game is most appreciated.
The following was the first hand I played after buying in a $100 max $.50/$1 NLHE online. I am in mid position. Everyone has $90 to $110.
I am delt King Clubs Six Clubs . EP calls, I check, button & SB call, BB checks.
Flop Ace Spade Queen Clubs Two (Duece) Clubs .
SB & BB check, EP bets $1, I call, everyone else including blinds then fold. $7 pot.
Turn brings Jack Spade .
EP bets $4. Pot odds are just a little short but close enough. A little voice is saying that sized bet is asking for action. I decide to call. $15 pot.
River brings Jack Clubs .
EP bets out $7. I have a K high flush but the board has paired paint. Potential disaster against the nut flush or boat. Again, the small bet is begging for action (or is it). But up to now, I have just been a calling station and can possibly extract some more cash.
How would everyone else play it?

You're getting 3 to 1 on your money, so folding is out of the question.
If you raise, and he re-raises.... then what do you do?
I think I would just cut off the betting here by calling. It's better to win a small pot, than to lose a big one! |

| Good advice, you've stated yourself the potential pitfalls and hands that the others may be packing - yours is strong, but with the increased betting activity towards the river I'd play for what is already there rather than committing more on an uncertain hand. |

| Call it, no question. You've considered other hands and although you've got a good hand, there are better possibilities judging on what has come down, so cut your losses a little and aim for whats already in the pot rather than risking losing another $5, $10, $15 etc. |

| Definitely, it's worth seeing his cards from your current situation. You have a reasonable hand and a good chance of taking the pot, but it's not worth paying more into. |
