6 handed 5/10$ limit game MP in (3rd position) and UTG limps - 2nd pos. folds, I RAISE WITH Eight Spade Eight Hearts ! folded to button who makes it THREE - BB flat calls and the UTG LIMPER makes it FOUR TO GO so it's another two small bets to me.
I FOLD thinking the flop will just come over cards or I'm behind to the limping AA/KK. Thought it was the proper fold most definately in the heat of the moment.
Those three took the flop capped and it came down:
Eight Diamonds Two (Duece) Spade Seven Clubs for top set.
Woops!!!!
Puts ya on opposite tilt. Still a good fold though, right? |

| I don't think so, sometimes short handed games can be a lot more aggressive and people cap it 'just for fun'. You might have been behind to maybe one person, but with 3 players, and aggressive action, you probably have implied odds to flop your set. Plus, if the board comes all small cards, a bet and a raise by you or someone else, will probably limit the field to 2 players and you can play them down from there. 1 or 2 of these players probably just had overcards, and any of them could have just as likely held something like 22. The player capping it could have had anything at that point. Sometimes if there are a lot of players in a hand and it is 3 bet to me, I might cap it 'just for fun' with a suited connector. It deceives my opponents and doesn't really hurt me by getting more money in the pot from many players. |

I would have folded. No point losing chips if you were right - for all you knew, they had AA and another Ace or two hits the deck on the Flop, then you'd be regretting it.
Stay low unless you can call and see the flop cheaply. Good play in my opinion, easy to say you should have stayed in having seen the flop though, isn't it? |

Good play, you don't know whats coming on the flop and it mighta been 2 aces and a king for all you knew.
It would have been nice to have been able to stay in, but realistically the bets were big and indicated AA, KK, AK or similar which could have been too strong for your mid-pocket pair. Sensible poker, it's a bitch when it happens, but it will from time to time I'm afraid. |
